London: Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has stated that its production and sales have been “severely interrupted” after a major cyber attack, according to PA Media/DPA.
India’s Tata Motors -owned car manufacturers, after being aware of issues affecting their global operations, shut down the system.
This is the latest blow to JLR as it continues to deal with the impact of American tariffs and weak consumer trust on the region.
JLR stated that it is “working at speed” to resume its operations at its retail and production sites.
The company insisted that there is currently “no evidence” that any customer data has been stolen in the attack.
Liverpool Eco said that the workers of the company’s hallwood plant in Mercesis were told on Monday morning that they did not work due to the issue.
A spokesperson of the car manufacturer said: “JLR is affected by a cyber incident.
“We took immediate action to reduce its impact by closing our system.
“We are now working in pace to restart our global applications in a controlled manner.
“There is no evidence at this level that any customer data has been stolen, but our retail and production activities have been severely interrupted.”
The attack comes after a part of the recent attacks in the United Kingdom Retail Sector, with Marx and Spencer, Co-Oop and Herods affected by those.
After the ransomware attack, M&S stopped online sale for about six weeks and warned that the incident could cost around £ 300 million (US $ 401 million). – Bernma, PA Media/DPA
