Johor Barisan Nasional says winning more than 40 state seats is a mandate to serve all Johorans and advance the Maju Johor agenda.
Johor Bahru: Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) has described its victory in winning more than 40 state seats in the 16th Johor state election as a strong mandate for the coalition to continue serving the rakat and addressing issues affecting the state.
Johor BN president Datuk ON Hafiz Ghazi said the election results represented a huge responsibility, which the alliance gladly accepted with gratitude and humility.
“Alhamdulillah, Johor BN has won more than 40 seats today. On behalf of the Johor BN leadership, I would like to express our deep appreciation to the Bangsa Johor for the overwhelming mandate given to us.
“This strong mandate strengthens our resolve to continue serving the people, engaging with the rakyat and resolving their concerns more effectively. This is our commitment following the trust placed in us,” he said at a press conference at the BN Operations Center today.
Also present were BN president and UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Nordin, UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, and UMNO Supreme Council members Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
ONN Hafiz said that this victory was achieved by the grace of God and the dedication and sacrifice of the party machinery during the entire election campaign.
He said the state government, with the consent of the Sultan of Johor and the Regent of Johor, will continue to pursue the Maju Johor agenda to improve the well-being of the people.
He also reminded the newly elected BN representatives that this victory came with an important responsibility to serve all Johorans regardless of race or political affiliation.
“To all our newly elected representatives, you now have a greater responsibility. The mandate entrusted to you is to serve all of Bangsa Johor, whether they supported us or not.
“We will serve every Johorean – Malay, Chinese, Indian, Orang Asli and the entire Bangsa Johor.
He said, “Let us unite and move forward together. The elections are over. Now is the time to take responsibility to build the Johor we all desire.”
Based on unofficial results, BN has secured the simple majority of 29 seats needed to form the new Johor state government and has won more than 40 seats as of press time.
