Jordan blocked all pornographic websites under a new telecommunications directive citing risks of fraud and exploitation, with lawmakers welcoming the move.
Amman: Jordanian telecommunications authorities announced on Tuesday that they have blocked access to all pornography websites in the kingdom.
“The Telecommunications Authority has begun communication with all telecommunications companies to officially ban pornography websites immediately,” said Lara Al-Khatib, a top official at the authority.
He told AFP the move targets all websites that are “harmful, obscene or violate the law”, adding that it came to “confront the risks of fraud, deception and exploitation”.
Dima Tahboob, a lawmaker from the Islah parliamentary block, an Islamist group, welcomed the decision, saying in a post on Facebook: “This is an important issue that I raised in October 2025 and asked the government to block the websites and protect our communities.”
