
Qualampur: Housing and local government minister NGA Core Ming said that Malaysia is targeting RM200 billion in property transactions this year, which is inspired by the expansion of middle class and continuous demand for residential places.
He said that the government is carefully optimistic about the approach due to global policy change and economic uncertainties, especially the recent “liberation day tariff” launched by the United States.
“Moving forward this year, we are optimistic about the continuous growth of the sector as we aim to achieve RM200 billion in property transactions, a continuous demand for an extended middle class and residential locations. The NGA stated that the recent liberation day tariff launched by the US has sent shockwaves through global markets, disrupted supply chains, increased costs, and re -shaped investment flows.
“During this period, one thing is certain – and this is uncertainty. We should work quickly and be suitable for these challenges effectively navigating.”
The NGA stated that strengthening multilateral relations within ASEAN is more important than ever at this critical turn.
He said, “With a joint population of 670 million, ASEAN represents the fifth largest economy in the world. Between external pressures such as business disruption and geopolitical tensions, our shared vision and commitment to regional cooperation can give us a source of stability,” he said.
The NGA said that last year, Malaysia’s real estate sector reached a decade in total transaction price, rose 18% from RM196.8 billion in 2023 to RM223.2 billion in 2024.
He said, “Malaysia’s real estate sector experienced a significant increase last year. It was inspired by the private sector capability to meet political stability, clear government’s direction and quality interior design and increasing demand for green construction solutions,” he said.
According to the NGA, Malaysia, as a chair of ASEAN, is ready to host more than 20 ministers of meetings in all ASEAN columns, as well as over 50 high-level attachments.
He said that this year’s Archidex and AREC have estimated RM2 billion in investment price with more than 56,000 attendees this year.
“Last year, we made history by launching ASEAN-China ministerial roundtable at construction and housing as a combination with Archidex. The incident attracted 40,336 visitors from more than 100 countries and reached more than RM1 billion in transactions.”
Archidex 2025 will be held at two places: Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center from July 21 to July 24 and Kuala Lumpur Convention Center from 23 July to 26 July. This year’s version has increased by 40% from last year, an exhibition location of about 36,700 square meters of 1,000 exhibitions.
