Deputy Prime Minister Ahmed Zahid says the government will restructure foreign worker management to improve efficiency, integrity and industry alignment.
kuala lumpur: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says the government will restructure foreign worker management in the country to ensure it is more coordinated, efficient and in line with the needs of the industry.
He said this was one of the decisions taken at the special meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Foreign Workers, which he chaired in Parliament today.
According to Ahmed Zahid, several important decisions were taken at the meeting, including matters related to membership and terms of reference of the Cabinet Committee on Foreign Workers.
He said that it was also agreed in the meeting that the One Stop Center for foreign worker management will be placed under the supervision of the Human Resources Ministry.
“Our goal is to ensure that the foreign worker management system becomes more efficient and maintains integrity while balancing the needs of the industry, national security and employment opportunities for Malaysians,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Ahmed Zahid said the government will also review foreign labor requirements more strategically based on the actual needs of industries.
Also, he said the government is committed to reducing dependence on foreign workers by increasing local workforce participation, strengthening the skilled workforce and accelerating the transition of industries towards automation.
He said that every measure taken by the government in the management of foreign workers will continue to be guided by the interests of the nation and the well-being of the people.
