Microsoft is strengthening its age browser with Artificial Intelligence (AI) agents. On Monday, the Redmond-based tech veteran announced a new experimental Copilot mode in the age, which allows the AI-managed browser to act as a collaborative to the user. The chatbot is capable of understanding reference from all open tabs and user can answer questions, compare different products, find relevant information, and more. In the future, Microsoft says that the AI agent will be able to complete the tasks and even shopping on behalf of the user.
Edge browser gets agent capabilities
In a blog post, Tech Giant announced the launch of the new Copilot mode at Edge Browser. With this, the comet of Edge Perplexity has joined the choice of browser and browser company’s Dia browser, which offers similar features. Microsoft’s implementation of AI Chatbot is slightly different. Instead of adding a side panel, which users can access from anywhere, it has added a dedicated tab to the copilot from which it provides assistance to the users.
In addition, users can also open a chatbot in a dynamic window from the top of the interface for tab-specific tasks. The Windows manufacturer says that the bottom of the Copilot tab chat, search and web navigation features dedicated with a text box. AI is a reference to AI and can collect data from any open tab and user can answer questions. It can also provide instructions for some tasks.
Highlighting an example, Microsoft says, if a user has opened several tabs with various hotels in a city, they can go to the Copilot tab and ask AI to find the closest option of the beach with a full kitchen. Copilot then passes through each web page, analyzes hotels and shares the best hotel to meet these criteria.
Additionally, Copilot supports in edge voice commands, allowing users to speak directly to their request. Microsoft has also mentioned two characteristics that will arrive in the coming weeks. First, Copilot will be able to request permission for the user’s browsing history and credentials. This will allow the AI agent to obtain additional references about user questions, as well as to do tasks such as booking a hotel or suggesting a tutorial video.
Second, Copilot in Edge Browser will soon be able to collect data from the currently opened and already opened tabs and understand projects on which a user is working. Based on this information, it will then be able to suggest the next stages to users for these projects. This means that when a user reopens the browser, Copilot will show different cards about different projects with several suggested tabs in the next stages.
In particular, the Copilot mode is available for limited time in all markets where the chatbot is available, but the company did not specify how long it would be free. It is also an opt-in feature that users can turn and turn off. Those who want to try this facility can click here.
