Openai on Friday started rolling its Artificial Intelligence (AI) agent operator in several countries. After it was introduced by the company in January, agent tool was still available in preview for users of chats living in the US. Equipped with a dedicated browser, the operator is a common-purpose AI agent that can autonomally perform online functions based on the indications given by the user. While the AI agent is now available in many major areas, the AI firm said it will not be available in European countries.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the official handle of OpenAII announced the rollout of the AI agent. The company said that the operator will now “Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, UK, and most places will be available for the Chatgpt Pro users and most of the locations are available Chatgpt.” In particular, the equipment is already available to those living in the US.
However, the company also said that European countries would have to wait a little before reaching the AI agent. The post said, “Still working on providing operators in the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Lichenstein and Iceland.”
At the launch, Openai explained that the operator is operated by a computer-use agent (CUA), a special AI model that receives computer vision capabilities from GPT-4o, and advanced Reasoning from an anonymous openiE model Proves (who can do (who can become O3 models). The AI agent was trained using reinforcement learning.
CUA has agental abilities and can interact with graphical user interfaces (GUI) such as buttons, menu and text fields displayed on the screen. It also has a dedicated browser that allows it to execute actions at a different place, freeing the human user to complete other functions.
The operator accepts both text and images as input. When completing the functions, it analyzes the raw pixel data of the screen and performs actions using a virtual keyboard and mouse, which is also provided in the sandbox atmosphere. The AI agent is claimed to do multi-step tasks, navigate through errors and adapt to unexpected landscapes.
