islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a series of austerity and fuel-saving measures to deal with the crisis arising from the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Addressing the nation, Sharif said fuel allocation for government department vehicles would be cut by 50% for the next two months. He said that 60% of these vehicles will be taken out of service completely.
The Prime Minister also announced that 50% of employees in both the public and private sectors will work from home, except in essential services. Government offices will now operate four days a week.
All schools across the country will remain closed for two weeks from the end of the current week. This is an important part of the energy conservation strategy of the government.
Sharif warned traders against hoarding essential commodities to take advantage of the situation. He urged the nation to display unity and responsibility in dealing with the crisis.
