
Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a bill that confirms the treaty on mutual legal aid in criminal cases between Russia and Seychelles Republic, Kremlin said on Saturday according to Riya Novosty.
Kremlin said, “The President signed a federal law on the objective of the treaty between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Seychelles on mutual legal aid in criminal cases.”
According to the text of the treaty published by the Russian Ministry of External Affairs, legal assistance is provided, “If the crime, which was issued in relation to which the request was issued, is criminally punishable according to the law of both sides”. At the same time, a side of the treaty can provide “on its view” legal aid, even if the situation is not recognized by its law as a criminal case.
The treaty also notes that legal aid in relation to investigation, prosecution or judicial proceedings in relation to financial and customs crimes can also be provided.
Legal aid includes processes such as delivery of relevant documents for criminal cases; To get evidence; To detect and identify individuals and objects; Witnesses, victims, experts and other individuals called to the competent authority of the party to voluntarily appear.
