US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says Washington talks between Israel and Lebanon could produce a security roadmap independent of Hezbollah.
Washington: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed hope on Wednesday that the latest round of talks in Washington between Israel and Lebanon will produce a security roadmap, despite the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.
“The hope is to produce today a joint statement and an action plan for security in that country that is independent of Hezbollah,” Rubio told the congressional panel.
This conversation took place a few days after US President Donald Trump’s statement in which he said that both the countries have promised to reduce tension.
But Israel and Hezbollah have continued firing, with Hezbollah claiming missile attacks on northern Israel on Wednesday and Lebanon saying Israeli strikes in the south killed at least nine people, including two paramedics.
