Sarawak Deputy Premier says Jalan Teku-Pasai Siong-Kemuyang project progress at 25.5%, SMK Selangau 64.2% completed.
Sibu: Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the 6.17km Jalan Teku/Jalan Pasai Siong to Kemuyang Package I construction project here has now achieved 25.5 per cent physical progress, which is 2.82 per cent ahead of schedule.
He said the RM76 million project is being implemented as planned and the current progress is 22.7 per cent higher than the set target.
“We are very satisfied with the progress of the work so far and we are confident that the contractors will be able to complete the project on schedule, although weather-related factors may be a challenge in the next phase,” he told reporters after visiting the project site today.
According to him, the main components of the project include the construction of a 704 meter high road in the peatland area.
Ugga said the construction of the new road will open up a new development area with high potential due to its location near Sibu City, in addition to improving communication networks in the area.
Apparently, this road provides another route from the area to Sibu city.
Earlier, Ugga inspected the RM81 million construction project of the new Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Selangau in Selangau.
He said the project, which was scheduled for completion in June 2027, has now achieved 64.2 percent physical progress and is ahead of the implementation schedule.
Satisfied with the progress, he is optimistic that it can be completed before the end of this year.
He said the facilities constructed include academic and administrative blocks, two blocks of male and female dormitories, a dining hall, 18 classrooms, 20 teachers’ rooms, teachers’ quarters and other support facilities that can accommodate about 400 students.
The project is being implemented by the Public Works Department of Malaysia (JKR), with construction starting on July 15, 2024, and the original completion date is June 14, 2027.
