New York: US President Donald Trump and other officials on Thursday paid tribute to killing right -wing activists Charlie Kirk as the country marked the 24th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Kirk “was the huge of its generation” and “Champion of Liberty”, Trump said at the beginning of his comment during the 9/11 ceremony in the Pentagon, which was one of the goals of al-Qaeda attacks that led to two decades of deadly struggle.
The US President announced that he would soon be posthumously posthumously awarded Kirk’s Freedom of the President’s Medal – the country’s highest civilian honor.
Speaking at the same ceremony, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that “9/11 like those, you will never be forgotten.”
Kirk – A close associate of Trump – was shot in the neck on Wednesday while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University.
Vice President JD Vance canceled the journey to New York for 9/11 memory so that he could meet Kirk’s grieved family in Utah.
Later on Thursday, Trump traveled to his hometown New York to participate in a baseball game at the Yanki Stadium, where he received both cheers and boys from the crowd.
The Memorial event for 9/11 was held in the ground zero at Manhattan, where the twin towers of the World Trade Center were destroyed in coordinated attacks, in which a jetliner was seen crashed in the Pentagon.
Another jet Pennsylvania crashed into rural areas when passengers beaten the kidnapper and controlled the aircraft.
‘Same hate’
Several mayor candidates attended the memory in New York, who marked a brief relief from a bitter battle to become the next leader of the city.
Two days ago, former governor and independent candidate Andrew Kuomo criticized his Democratic rival Zoharan Mamdani, who was to give an interview to a leftist streammer, which said in 2019 that the United States was entitled to 9/11. Kuoomo said that it has been shown that Mamdani is not worth being the mayor.
Mamdani’s campaign stated that “to suggest that Zoharan Mamdani – who is ready to become the first Muslim mayor of New York – somehow supports 9/11” “Vile” and “dangerous”.
According to the latest polling from New York Times and Sienna, Mammadani has gained 22 points in the race.
Holiday mayor Eric Adams on Thursday tied Kirk’s murder with 9/11, saying: “This is the same hatred that fired two aircraft at the World Trade Center, which fired a bullet through Charlie Kirk’s neck.”
Adams said, “The murder cut his heart that we are as Americans.”
“If we show 9/11 for a moment that we are better than Americans, then we are better as human beings, then we are going to find ourselves in a dark place.”
New York marked a psychological moment as silent at 8:46 am (1246 GMT) when the kidnapped Udaan 11 hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center 24 years ago.
The places of worship across the city rang their bells to mark the effect as the families of the victims read the names of those killed in the ground zero.
The toll of official death was 2,977, with passengers of four kidnapped aircraft and crew, suffering in twin towers, including firefighters and personnel in Pentagon. Death Toll 19 Al-Qaeda Hijackers- Excluses AFP
