See as the approach to the two most bright planets within each other’s width.
On March 14, 2012, local time at 8:28 pm, Venus brightened its lower left with Jupiter. The photographer took this shot from Dustin, England, when the two planets were 3 ° different. Credit: Jamie Cooper
- Venus and Jupiter demonstrate a close planet combination in the east-east sky in early August.
- The clear angular separation between the two planets decreases from 5.5 ° on August 6 to a minimum of 0.5 ° on August 12.
- On August 12, the nearest view of the combination keeps Venus and Jupiter within a clear diameter of a full moon.
- After August 12, the angular isolation between Venus and Jupiter increases.
If you exit before sunrise (say, around 5 pm local time) and look at the east during the next few days, you will see the speed of the planets in action. Venus, blazing on magnitude -4.0, and Jupiter, any slut shines itself at magnitude -2.0, getting closer each day.
Yesterday morning (which is Wednesday, August 6 as I write it), the pair will be separated from 5.5 °. As far as the sky is concerned, this is not a wide difference, but it is nothing to write about the house. But wait two days and leave out on Friday 8th morning. Now the planets are 3.7 ° different. not bad. Are you taking pictures of them yet?
Let me go one and two days. Sunday morning, on 10 August, Venus will stand only 2 ° from Jupiter. How close it is to get some ideas, a clear diameter of the full moon is ° °, and the orian belt is 2 ° ° long.
And it keeps getting better. On 11th, separation has been cut in half to 1.1 °. But Morning to Miss is Tuesday, August 12. On that date, Venus and Jupiter will be different only or °, remarkably close pair of these two bright objects.
After that, they begin to separate. In fact, the next morning finds them separately as 12th. So, do not remember this astronomical together! Even if you cannot see complete progress, be sure to take a look on August 12. good luck!
