Somewhere up there, John Madden is smiling.
During a high school football game in West Virginia on Friday, a big man touchdown unlike any other occurred.
The moment occurred in the second quarter of the Wheeling Park-John Marshall matchup. John Marshall was driving down the field and looked ready to score, when suddenly, Wheeling Park defensive lineman Akeem Davis intercepted a pass and started running for the end zone.
His progress was greatly hindered, as the 320-pounder soon became the target of every player on the John Marshall football team. However, as you will see, he was not to be rejected.
For a moment it seemed as if Davis had no way to get to his feet after a massive pile of tacklers at the 45-yard line. Yet, in a display of determination that defied logic and, almost, science, Davis ultimately wobbled forward and was tackled as he crossed the goal line.
This crazy viral moment even caught the attention of ESPN college gameday Crew, who reacted with disbelief.
“Get him the ball more,” said ESPN host Pat McAfee. “We’re in playoff season. Let’s get him at fullback.”
Whaling Park defeated John Marshall 63–40.
