
Hanoi: Vietnamese Prime Minister Fam Minh Chinah discussed recent regional and international development, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) with bilateral relations with his Malaysian counterpart Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the request of Malaysian side on Sunday (April 6).
During the call, Anwar informed Chinh that Malaysia, as ASEAN President for 2025, would host a meeting of ASEAN Economic Ministers on Thursday (April 10), aimed at assessing the current situation and detecting measures to strengthen intra-block connectivity and cooperation in view of the current situation.
The symbol highlighted Vietnam’s efforts in discussion with the US, which included a recent phone conversation between Lam and US President Donald Trump on 4 April and US President Donald Trump. His discussion focused on resolving obstacles and promoting economic and business cooperation towards fair and permanent trade that balances the interests of all parties.
Vietnam is considering the possibility of reducing import duty for goods from the North American country, requesting equal treatment for Vietnamese exports in the US market.
The leaders also discussed the possible signature of a bilateral agreement to formalize these commitments, Chinh said that Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duke Folk would travel to the US to engage in specific discussions on the matter.
The leader of the Vietnamese government welcomed Malaysia’s initiative to organize a meeting of ASEAN Economic Ministers and confirmed the participation of the Minister of Industry and Trade.
Anwar said that Malaysia and many regional countries are welcome and the conversation with Vietnamese Party chief President Trump is highly valued, he expressed support for Vietnam’s approach to the tariff issue.
Anwar also informed to address Myanmar’s efforts on Saturday (April 5) on Saturday (April 5), including Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seeri Mohammad Hasan, to address the issue of Myanmar, as ASEAN’s chair, as ASEAN’s chair. He emphasized his country’s commitment to promote dialogue and ensure unity in solving the issue.
Chinah appreciated Malaysia’s efforts in addressing the issue of Myanmar, especially its effective support, strong sense of responsibility and active role in the coordination of ASEAN’s joint functions to help Myanmar overcome the recent earthquake.
He also shared information about Vietnam’s Swift assistance to Myanmar after the earthquake, including a provision of US $ 300,000 in delivery and assistance of more than 100 rescue personnel, deployment of medical equipment and supply.
He confirmed that Vietnam would continue to actively support Malaysia and other ASEAN members, and is ready to work as a mediator in joint efforts to promote dialogue and national cohesion in Myanmar.
The two leaders agreed to continue the discussion, increase confidence and coordinate measures to deepen the widespread strategic partnership for peace, stability and prosperity of both countries, region and world.
