Apara Ekadashi 2026 : Importance
Ekadashi is one of the most auspicious days in Hinduism. This day has great religious and spiritual significance. This day is dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu and all Vaishnav devotees observe a strict fast starting from sunrise and they break it after Parana on the next day or Dwadashi tithi. It is believed that this fast brings spiritual growth, self discipline, inner peace and awareness in life. Those who observe the fast with pure devotion are blessed by the Lord with lots of positivity, abundance, prosperity and get a place in the abode of Lord Vishnu after death. People observe this fast to get freedom from the cycle of birth and death. The word Apar means unlimited and the Pandavas fasted on this special day to win the war against the Kauravas. Devotees observe this fast to purify their body, mind and soul. Throughout the day, they engage in a variety of religious and spiritual practices. It is said that by observing the fast of Apara Ekadashi, people also get salvation.
Apara Ekadashi 2026: Puja Rituals
1. Devotees start the puja rituals early in the morning.2. Install the idol of Lord Vishnu, light a lamp of desi ghee and offer garland or flowers.3. Prepare Panchamrit (milk, ghee, curd, honey and sugar) and Satvik Bhog Prasad.4. On the day of Ekadashi, one should spend the day chanting the mantra ‘Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay’.5. Perform Aarti of Lord Vishnu and offer prepared Bhog Prasad.6. Most of the devotees visit the temples of Lord Krishna and Lord Vishnu to seek blessings.7. The fast is broken the next day on Dwadashi Tithi.8. Devotees who are unable to control their appetite can have satvik food in the evening, others can break it the next day.
