A gracious Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke to President Donald Trump on the eve of the G7 summit, he announced on Sunday
“I just had a great conversation with @POTUS,” Zelensky wrote on Twitter on Sunday.
Zelensky added, “I also thanked the United States for all the support it provides to Ukraine, and it matters that we remember with gratitude every step of that support – from Javelins to Patriots.” “We discussed things that can help bring peace now, and I briefed the President on the latest developments on the battlefield and how our position has been strengthened.”

Specifically, the G7 summit will feature direct talks between the leaders of seven major industrialized economies, including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
European leaders will attend Trump-Zelensky meeting, a sign of solidarity with Ukraine
“We agreed that we will discuss this further during our meeting at the G7 summit,” Zelensky concluded. “We have some good ideas that can help advance peace and protect life. Thank you!”
The call came as Trump turns 80 and prepares to fly to France early Monday for the G7, where the war in Ukraine and Russia is expected to be a major topic. Trump will participate in a working session with Zelensky at the summit on Tuesday morning, though it will not necessarily be a formal bilateral meeting, according to a senior administration official.
The outreach also comes as European leaders seek to engage Trump on Ukraine policy and push for renewed diplomatic efforts involving Kiev, Moscow and Europe. European officials are expected to use the G7 gathering to pressure Trump over his plan to restart talks with Russia, while also preparing to put additional pressure on Moscow.
