TL;DR: Amazon is using its early Prime Day Hub to showcase its new Alexa+ ecosystem, but all first-party Echo devices are currently listed at full retail price. Put off shopping until June 23 or check out live sales on Sonos and Bose gear instead.
It’s still June 8, but Amazon is pushing back its upcoming Prime Day sale difficult (As happens every year, although it seems like the sales start earlier and earlier each time). The company is using eye-catching blue banners to make it seem like the event is already underway, but if you look at the actual price tags, you’ll notice that all Echo devices are still listed at their original list price. (Some items are on sale on the site, not just these.)
Prime Day is just around the corner: Here are 20+ early bird deals to start shopping now
Instead of offering discounts, Amazon is using this early window to lure customers to the site and draw attention to its new generative AI assistant, Alexa+. While access is included for free with Prime, non-subscribers will eventually have to shell out $19.99 per month for the Standard plan.
To help you plan your shopping cart ahead of time, here’s a quick rundown of what these full-price devices cost right now and how much lower we expect them to be when sales officially begin:
smart display for viewing
-
Amazon Echo Show 11: The Amazon Echo Show 11 is Amazon’s latest Echo Show model, so we’re not expecting Huge It’s discounted, but on May 1st it was listed for $169.99, so if you’re looking for a new smart display, there’s still hope. Right now, it’s still listed at its full $219.99 retail price.
-
Amazon Echo Hub: Right now, the Amazon Echo Hub will cost you $179.99. But, if you are patient, we expect it to drop to $60 by the time the sale starts. It went up to $119.99 during Amazon’s October Prime Day sale last year, so $60 is our minimum discount expectation.
Smart Speakers and Bedside Clocks
-
Amazon Echo Dot Max: The Amazon Echo Dot Max is still sitting at its full retail price of $99.99, but like the Amazon Echo Show 11, it had a substantial price drop on May 1. We expect this device to drop to $74.99 during the sale which would match the previous all-time low.
-
Amazon Echo Spot: The full price of the Amazon Echo Spot is $79.99 right now, so we recommend waiting. We’ve seen previous iterations of this clock reach $44.99 during past savings events, which is a pretty reasonable price for a bedside display.
-
Amazon Echo Pop Kids: The cartoon-themed versions of the Amazon Echo Pop Kids are holding firm at $49.99 right now. These models are usually reduced by half during the actual site-wide sale, so stay tuned for the $24.99 mark.
What can you buy in the sale today
If you just can’t wait As of June 23, there are some Alexa-enabled devices on sale right now to purchase the smart speaker, including:

The main takeaway here is that early promotion banners don’t force you to pay full retail price for the Echo speaker. Bookmark your favorites, build your cart, and wait for the real first-party price cut later this month.
