AMK says linking Anwar to opposition infighting is a desperate move to hide leadership weaknesses and internal power struggles.
ipoh: Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) has described efforts to link Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to turmoil within the opposition as a desperate attempt to hide the weaknesses of the bloc’s leadership.
AMK chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said it is unfair to blame Anwar for every internal crisis affecting the opposition, and that the issues actually stem from power struggles and disputes over seat allocation.
“Others are those who are aggressively maneuvering politically, creating instability, creating a culture of backstabbing and engaging in various political schemes, including attempts to form government through the backdoor, yet it is the Prime Minister who is being blamed.
“Marzuki (Datuk Dr Marzuki Mohd) himself admitted that internal turmoil exists within the opposition due to seat disputes and differing political interests. If so, why should Anwar be held responsible?” he said in a statement today.
Muhammad Kamil was commenting on comments by Marzuki, a former principal private secretary to the eighth Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, which he described as a “high-level political maneuver” that was reportedly known to Anwar.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Kamil said the crisis currently affecting the opposition clearly reflects the weaknesses in its leadership and its failure to manage its own coalition rather than interference from outside parties.
He said efforts to revive political cooperation that had failed earlier only show that the opposition is short of ideas and unable to present a concrete agenda to the people.
“People are increasingly aware that coalitions such as Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Mufakat Nasional (MN) have failed to present a clear economic plan and a strong development agenda.
“Instead, they continue to rely on the politics of hate and exploit racial and religious sentiments to garner support,” he said.
Muhammad Kamil said that while the opposition remained engaged in political maneuvering and power struggles, the Anwar-led government continued to focus on strengthening the national economy, attracting investment and enhancing Malaysia’s economic resilience.
“The Prime Minister has just returned from a working visit to Tokyo and is focusing on strengthening the economy and protecting the interests of the people.
He said, “Unfortunately, when people are looking for solutions to issues like cost of living, employment and national development, some parties are stuck in old political games, engaged in political maneuvering and backdoor schemes.”
