The Washington-American army is setting up its first dedicated space career area for listed personnel, a change that military officials say that the force will better create force for modern struggles that expand land, sea, air, cyber and location.
A 40D new military business features (MOS), designated for space -operating specialist, will create a permanent career track for listed soldiers specialized in space operations, an officer of a senior army announced on 2 May.
“These experts will become experts by us during the next struggle,” said Lt Gen Geni, Commander of the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command.
The initiative unveiled last August has now been approved by the senior leadership of the army.
Previously, only army officers had access to a dedicated space operating career path. Listed soldiers working in space-related positions were prepared from other specialties such as engineering, air defense, signal or intelligence, often returning to those areas after completing space assignments.
“To date, the spread of specialization and experience in space operations remains in the officer core instead of the Non-Communication Officer Core,” Genny said. “This new space operation mos will ensure that experts through command surgeants come into the space structures of the army with experience and expertise in space operations.”
This change comes when military planners rapidly recognize space as an important domain for modern war. Army Space Professionals will focus on strategy to disrupt or distinguish the satellite network of opponents.
Army officials said that the initiative has been designed to make the budget-plate. While current space units are given “loans”, which will return to their original areas in air defense, signals and intelligence, their positions will be converted into a new space operation characteristic.
This step aligns with the comprehensive department of defense efforts to increase space capabilities in front of China’s progress in anti-defense technologies. Military analysts noted that satellite is rapidly required for communication, GPS navigation, and space-based intelligence, army investment in special space personnel reflects the increasing dependence of traditional land war with capabilities in new domains.
