Qualampur: The government will join the city’s mayors in all states in the coming months to discuss and prepare a cooperation scheme for smart city initiative.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Dev said that the discussion among all states is important to compile the existing services and widespread observation of the current services and how to adopt and adopt a successful smart city initiative from other states.
He said that the goal is to eventually establish a central coordination body at the national level, and efforts are underway to implement it by the end of the year.
Gobind said that some states are already moving forward with these initiatives, which are the result of interstate cooperation and ongoing investment efforts.
“Progressing with our current efforts, we are looking for digital assets already available across the country to ensure that we are feeling their ability completely. In the last six months, I personally have visited Penang, Putrajaya, Buqit Jalil, Joil and Sarawak, who are telling that recently, smart solutions are being developed in the last five to six years.
He said, “Technology, solutions and communities already exist. It is clear that we have foundations and knowledge for the construction of digital cities that we need to be relevant in the future,” he told representatives today at the launch of 100-day vomiting count for Smart City Exo Kual Lampur 2025 (SCEKL25).
Gobind said that the objective of statewide cooperation is to demonstrate the transformational ability of smart city technology – how it can reopen life, imagine the future, operate business and control the country more effectively.
“This conversation has become central for the Digital Ministry. As we look for insight and guidance in this rapidly developed technical scenario globally, we recognize the immediate need for strong foundations, structures, which can increase the sustainable, smart and even AI-operated cities.
“In the last one year, our focus has been on establishing these many structures,” Gobind said, the ministry’s ambition is to lead the next wave of urban innovation where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is used to construct clever, safe and more inclusive cities.
He said that the Smart City Vision is grounded responsibly, directed by morality and operated with purpose, aimed at creating intelligent, human-focused and durable cities, where technology strengthens communities and makes meaningful changes.
The agenda, Gobind, said, “Four strategic columns – AI cities, durable and flexible cities, digital entrepreneurship and economic development, and digital solutions are built on community empowerment.
He said that through Malaysia Digital Econar Corporation (MDEC), Malaysia Digital (MD) initiative, the incentive has been strengthened and strengthened the trust of investors.
By July 2024, 140 local AI solution providers have joined the MD ecosystem, producing more than RM 1 billion in revenue.
Gobind said that in 2024, Malaysia recorded RM163.6 billion in digital investment, which is more than the triple more than the previous year, demonstrating investor trust in the country’s stable, business-supporting environment, Gobind said.
Meanwhile, he said, digital exports are increasing, in 11 countries in over RM1.9 billion opportunities.
“In only two years, 5G coverage has reached areas with more than 82% of population, supporting cases of traffic management and public safety to environmental monitoring. The 5G penetration rate is more than 60%, indicating a strong adoption between the two public and enterprise users.
Gobind said, “Digital clinics BHD (DNB) also supports startups and tech firms in developing scalable AI solutions for smart cities,” Gobind said.
Touching SCEKL25, Gobind said the event is set to carry forward Malaysia on the global stage by bringing together innovators, investors and major discussions from all over the world. This will serve as a platform how Malaysia can demonstrate leadership in the emerging location of Smart AI cities, to start meaningful conversations on it.
“SCEKL25 hosting is part of a broad leadership agenda. It ranks Malaysia as a regional center for smart city innovation, public-private cooperation and inclusive digital development.
“SCEKL25 will bring together more than 10,000 representatives, 300 exhibitors, and participants from more than 20 countries. This policy-to-project cooperation, investor engagement, technology showcase, and will serve as a platform for real-world urban solutions-ranging from-from mobile mobility to the pre-mobility system,”.
SCEKL25, which will be from September 17 to 19, is the first edition of South -East Asia globally, the famous Smart City Expo World Congress Barcelona. This will take the theme “AI Cities: Shaping Hour Digital Future”, which reflects the bold vision of Malaysia for the creation of intelligent, inclusive and durable cities operated by state -of -the -art technologies.
The expo, co-integrated by MDEC and DNB for the Ministry of Digital, will bring together global leaders, investors, technical nebulars and policy makers together to find out how AI and emerging technologies are changing urban life in ASEAN.
