The shocking and untimely death of former NFL player Josh Mauro came at the end of a four-day drug binge that included cocaine and a dancer. New York Post.
Phoenix Police Department documents obtained by California Post show that Mauro met a dancer in mid-April, whom he invited to his home in Phoenix with friends a week later.
According to the report, the dancer told police that she and her friend arrived at Mauro’s residence on the morning of April 23.
Upon arriving, they claimed they saw Mauro and one of his friends smoking cocaine. According to reports, women joined the party and started drinking tequila and listening to music.
A few hours after arriving, the women reportedly went upstairs to sleep while Mauro and his friend continued partying downstairs.
The woman says that when she woke up she found Mauro lying on the floor, possibly dead. She then called 911 and attempted to revive him.
In his description of Mauro, he described the former New York Giants as “happy and beloved.” She also reported that “he was an alcoholic for 4 days,” and said that she noticed that Mauro “had frequent nosebleeds and was sweating after snorting cocaine.”
Upon inspection of the premises, police found cocaine wrapped in one dollar bills, as well as several blood-stained tissues and syringes.
“After an autopsy, the Maricopa County Medical Examiner said there were traces of ‘fentanyl, cocaine, ethanol and their metabolites, as well as cannabinoids and caffeine’ in Mauro’s system, and his death was ruled an accidental overdose,” New York Post Report.
Mauro played eight years in the NFL for the Cardinals, Giants and Raiders; He was 35 years old.
