On CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said he has no regrets about endorsing former Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner (D), who dropped out after a former girlfriend accused him of sexual assault.
Host Margaret Brennan asked, “Yesterday, 600 Maine primary delegates replaced scandal-plagued Grand Plattner with Troy Jackson. He’s a lumberjack. He’s a progressive. Sanders said, “I think he can. I think Troy and I have known Troy for many years. What? Brennan said, “You were an early supporter of Graham Platner in Maine. You helped advance him. Do you regret that you didn’t act earlier to oust him? Given the warning signs, would that have given you the opportunity to pursue Jackson here?”
Sanders said, “No, I don’t think so. When we heard the serious allegations made against him, I wanted to call; I wanted to talk to him. I did. I, along with almost all of his supporters, asked that he drop out of the race, and he did.”
