Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. became embroiled in controversy after blaming late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel for “the decline of liberal comedy.”
Kennedy shared a satirical thread on social media, calling it a “brilliant analysis of the shocking fallacy of liberal comedy.”
“This is the best explanation of how we reached the nadir [sic] Where late night host Jimmy Kimmel might say, ‘It’s not my job to be funny.’ As this writer shows, he was hired as a comedian but he turned himself into a priest,” RFK Jr. shared.
Rather than address or acknowledge this point — or even offer a valid counterargument — Kimmel chose to go after a spelling error.
“This is a ‘nadir’ dummy. Now back to spreading polio,” he wrote.
This isn’t the first time RFK Jr. has jumped on the late night host bandwagon. As a presidential candidate in 2023, RFK Jr. called on late-night comedians including Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart to push the coronavirus vaccine — which did not prevent transmission of the virus nor prevent it from being contracted — on everyone.
“I saw that the comedians who were supposed to be questioning everything were canceling out the people who did ask questions, including all those guys — you know, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert,” he said during an appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience.”
He added, “I thought they had stopped being funny because comedians are funny when they ridicule authorities, and they all need to stop doing that.”
Kimmel joined him in his misguided hatred during that era as well, once suggesting that hospitals should not treat individuals taking ivermectin.
Kimmel said in 2021, “This choice doesn’t seem that hard to me.”
Kimmel recently came under fire after commenting during his monologue that First Lady Melania Trump would be a “future widow” – just days before a gunman again attempted to assassinate President Trump, this time at the White House correspondents’ dinner.
His absurd comment even prompted the First Lady to speak out.
He wrote, “Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is aimed at dividing our country. His monologue about my family is not comedy – his words are corrosive and deepen the political sickness within America. People like Kimmel should not have the opportunity to enter our homes every evening to spread hate.”
FLOTUS called him a “coward”, adding, “Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will continue to covertly work to protect him.”
He said, “Enough is enough. It’s time for ABC to take a stand.” “How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.”
In another example of his so-called “comedy”, Kimmel recently urged supporters of criminal illegal immigrants to “fight” Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers with rubber sex toys.
“But there are still Americans out there fighting the good fight,” he said. “You know, in February, protesters in Minneapolis held an event called Operation Dildo Blitz. They brought in a battalion of rubber sex toys. Sometimes you’ve got to fight dildo with dildo, and I think that idea is catching on, because there have been dildo blitzes.”
