Indian and Pakistani troops briefly exchanged fire with their highly military boundary in the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir, stating on Friday that tension between nuclear-skilled rivals increased after a deadly attack on tourists.

Stress increases
Tuesday’s attack in Kashmir was the worst attack over the years, targeting citizens in a comfortable area. Since then, there has been a dangerous tension between India and Pakistan, which has fought two of its three wars on Kashmir, divided between them and both claimed to have been claimed by both.
On Wednesday, India suspended an important water-sharing treaty, which overtaken two wars between countries and closed its only functional land border. A day later, India canceled all visas issued to Pakistani citizens with influence from Sunday.
Pakistan angrily replied that this had nothing to do with the attack, and canceled the visa issued to Indian citizens, shut down its airspace for all Indian-owned or Indian-run airlines and suspended all trade with India. Citizens of both sides started going back to their domestic countries on Friday through the Vagah border near the eastern city of Lahore in Pakistan.
Islamabad also warned that any Indian attempt to prevent or remove water flow would be considered as “war work”. The suspension of the water treaty may lead to a shortage of water at a time when some parts of Pakistan are already struggling with drought and fall in rain.
Pakistan has also warned that it can suspend the Shimla Agreement – what will be a major and worrying step. After the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War signed peace treaty established the line of control, a high-military real border that divides Kashmir between countries.
The United Nations has urged India and Pakistan to “exercise maximum restraint and to ensure that the situation and developments we have seen do not deteriorate further.”

India and Pakistan administer a part of each Kashmir. New Delhi has described all extremism there as Pakistan -backed terrorism. Pakistan denied this, and many Muslim Kashmiris considered terrorists as part of a home-developed freedom struggle.
Residents in southern Kashmir and police said Indian soldiers exploded explosives in two suspected militants’ family homes, accused of involvement in the Tuesday’s attack. In the past, Indian soldiers have demolished homes as a way of punishing extremism in Kashmir.
Officials say they are investigating two local men and two Pakistani nationals for their alleged involvement in the attack. The authorities have not expanded or shared any evidence.
One of the local people, Asif Sheikh said, “He left the house three years ago. We have not seen him since then and nothing was recovered from this house despite many raids.” The explosion partially damaged the house in Monaghama village that she shares with Sheikh’s parents and two sisters, with its windows flowing. It also broke the windopen of several other houses.
“Even if she attacked, why did she blow up a poor family house,” Affza, which prefers many women in Kashmir, uses only one name, said she was leaving as she was leaving.
A police officer and two residents of Gurei village said that a house was also targeted by soldiers there. The officer insisted on oblivion as he was not authorized to speak with the media, while the two villagers feared the authorities.
Protesters take the streets
