President Donald Trump said Friday after a morning full of news that Iran had “agreed to everything” in talks with the United States, including reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump made the comments to NewsNation’s Kelly Mayer, who called the president after he announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and announced that the United States would reclaim enriched uranium from sites bombed in Operation Midnight Hammer last June.
When the mayor asked whether Iran had agreed to stop enriching uranium, Trump said, “Yes.”
“They agreed on everything,” she told him.
When the mayor asked her if she was surprised, she said, “I’m not surprised by anything,” and quickly ended the call.
During talks in Islamabad last week, the Iranian regime refused to agree on six key redlines with the US delegation comprising Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
A US official told Breitbart News that these redlines include destroying all major nuclear enrichment facilities, allowing the recovery of highly enriched uranium; ending all uranium enrichment; Adopting a comprehensive peace, security and de-escalation framework that includes regional partners; fully opening the Strait of Hormuz, charging no tolls for passage; and ending funding for terrorist proxies Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.
Vance left after making a final proposal, the official said, adding that he hoped that after consideration the Iranians would find it in the best interests of both sides.
Vance said before departing, “We’re leaving here with a very simple proposal, a method of understanding that is our final and best proposal. We’ll see if the Iranians accept it.”
Trump, who imposed the US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, outlined the Strait of Hormuz agreement in a Truth Social post.
He wrote, “The Strait of Hormuz is fully open and ready for trade and full passage, but the naval blockade will remain in full force and effect as it relates to Iran, only until our transaction with Iran is 100% completed.”
“This process should go very quickly as most of the points have already been negotiated. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” He added.
Trump also said that Iran is removing mines dropped in the strait, Iran has agreed to never close the strait again and that the agreement is not tied to Lebanon.
He also thanked Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar.
