An Iranian plot to assassinate Israel’s ambassador to Mexico has been foiled, officials revealed Friday.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reportedly tried to kill the ambassador late last year, but that attempt was neutralized, Reuters reported, citing a US official.
“We thank the security and law enforcement services in Mexico for thwarting a terrorist network directed by Iran that was trying to attack the Israeli ambassador to Mexico,” Israel’s Foreign Ministry told Fox News on Friday.
“The Israeli security and intelligence community will continue to work tirelessly to thwart terrorist threats from Iran and its proxies against Israeli and Jewish targets around the world, in full cooperation with security and intelligence agencies around the world.”

The plot to target Ambassador Einat Kranz-Neiger “has been contained and poses no ongoing threat,” a US official told Reuters.
“This is the latest incident in a long history of Iran targeting diplomats, journalists, dissidents and anyone who disagrees with them, which should deeply concern every country where there is an Iranian presence,” the official reportedly said.
