Jyeshtha Purnima is one of the most prominent days in Hinduism. It is a very holy day to worship Lord Vishnu. Purnima is considered the most revered day in Hindu religion. Devotees observe fast from morning till evening and offer sincere prayers to Lord Satyanarayan (another form of Lord Vishnu) and seek his blessings on this special day that falls every month. Jyeshtha Purnima 2026: Significance
Purnima is the most powerful day in Hinduism and this day comes every month but Jyeshtha Purnima is the major day, which is celebrated as Vat Purnima. It is one of the most powerful days to worship Lord Vishnu. Devotees observe fast from sunrise to sunset and worship Sri Satyanarayana, another form of Lord Vishnu. On this holy day the moon comes in its full form and the divine rays of the moon fall on the earth. This day holds great religious and spiritual significance when people perform various spiritual activities to wish for guidance, spiritual growth, abundance and wealth. People can manifest whatever they want in their life. A large number of devotees visit the Ganga Ghats to take a holy dip in the river Ganga. On this important day, it is considered commendable to worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and visit Radha Krishna temple to seek their blessings. Jyeshtha Purnima means eldest Purnima, hence one must perform puja to make this day lucky and fulfill one’s wishes.
Jyeshtha Purnima 2026: Puja rituals
1. Wake up early in the morning and take bath in the river Ganga.2. Those who are unable to go to Ganga Ghat, can take bath at home by mixing Ganga water in their bathing water. 3. Cleaning your entire house including the puja room. 4. Take a wooden plank and place the idol of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi in it, if you do not have the idol of Maa Lakshmi then you can also keep Shri Yantra, the symbol of Maa Lakshmi. 5. Devotees should light a lamp of desi ghee in front of the idols. Keep an urn filled with water and offer a garland of yellow flowers. 6. Offer prepared prasad, which includes banana, kheer, panchamrit and tulsi leaves along with panjiri. 7. Recite Satyanarayan Katha and chant Aarti – “Om Jai Jagdish Hare” and “Jai Lakshmi Raman”. 8. Finally, offer Bhog Prasad to God and Goddess and put some Prasad in the Kalash and offer that water to Moon God. 9. After completing all the puja rituals, devotees can break their fast by having satvik food. 10. Devotees should keep in mind that Satyanarayan Puja can be done at any time, but it is necessary to complete it before the moon rises.
