Qualampur: An initiative between Naio Lab, National AI Office (NAO) and Global AI Village (GAIV) is expected to create more than 450 high-skilled artificial intelligence engineering jobs in the next three to five years, which reflects Malaysia’s ambition . Regional leader in AI Innovation.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Dev said that the initiative would attract global talent, nurture local talent, and ensure that Malaysian AI is at the forefront of innovation.
“We want to create a generation of AI leaders who can compete on the global stage,” he said in his speech at the launch of Nayo Lab today.
Gobind said that Nio Lab will focus on civil-centered AI applications, especially agriculture, healthcare and transport. “These regions directly affect the daily lives of Malaysian people. AI can increase productivity, improve service distribution, and unlock new development opportunities, ”he said.
First project under Nio Lab, Rakan TaniPilot will be done in Teranganu and focusing on rice farmers. Keeping in mind, it is accessible through WhatsApp to a farmer-centric AI service. The pilot project will assess AI-operated solutions such as e-marketplace, farming input recommendations and credit scoring.
“We aim to roll the first phase within three to four months. Once the pilot was successful, we will work with Gives and other partners to scale the nationwide solutions, ”Gobind said.
“While agriculture is our initial point, Nio Lab will soon expand to healthcare and transport. This is just the beginning. Other ministries can follow this model, and funding can be sour to scare these initiatives through the give and hive, ”he said.
