According to a report, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed the possibility of US intervention in Iran.
The two leaders spoke by phone on Saturday as Israel remains on “high alert”, preparing for the possibility of US military intervention in Iran, according to Reuters citing multiple Israeli sources.
The report comes as nationwide anti-regime protests are set to last two weeks across Iran.
On Saturday, the Iranian regime triggered an internet “kill switch” in an apparent attempt to cover up alleged abuses by security forces, according to a cybersecurity expert, as protests against it escalated across the country. The blackout reduced Internet access to a fraction of normal levels.
Keane warned the Iranian regime that Trump should take the protests “very seriously” amid the ongoing demonstrations.

On Sunday, Iran’s parliament speaker warned that US forces and Israel would be “legitimate targets” if the US attacked the Islamic republic.
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf issued the threat after lawmakers took to the podium in the Iranian parliament and began shouting, “Death to America!” According to the Associated Press.
President Donald Trump offered support for the protesters on Saturday, writing on Truth Social that “Iran is looking forward to freedom perhaps never seen before. The United States stands ready to help!!!”

At a press conference on Friday, Trump said that Iran is facing increasing pressure as unrest spreads across the country.
“Iran is in big trouble,” he said. “I feel like people are taking over some cities that no one even thought about a few weeks ago. We’re watching the situation very carefully.”
The President said that if the regime resorts to violence on a large scale, the US will respond strongly.
“We’re going to hit them very, very hard where it hurts. And that doesn’t mean hitting the boots on the ground, but it means hitting them very, very hard where it hurts,” he said.
