Appearing on MS Now’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday, Maine Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Graham Platner said he has the moral authority to call for the release of the Epstein files despite the controversy.
Co-host Mika Brzezinski said, “The question is, what’s out there? What don’t you have that you’ve sent to others that they might have? How many concerns do other people have related to photos and text messages that could be used against you? And I would like to know if the photos are related to the photos.”
Plattner said, “I would just say that the nature of Amy and her relationship has been blown, I would say, completely out of proportion. Early in our marriage, we had some conflicts, and we worked through them. Because that’s what you do when you’re in love with someone, and it made our marriage stronger, made us that way. But to be honest, I’m much happier as a couple and more conversational. I was single for most of my adult life, and I dated. And, you know, you date people, and you do all this. And frankly, it all happened long before I decided to run for the United States Senate. Has spoken openly about the campaign.
Brzezinski said, “Then let me ask it this way. Can you talk about the nature of sexting, can you call for the release of the Epstein files, and can you call out people who have abused women and not be conflicted in any way?”
Plattner said, “Yes, absolutely. I mean, I engage in consensual romantic activity with adults early in my life, which seems like a pretty normal thing for most people. It’s a very different thing to go to an island with billionaires and potentially assault children.”
