
Petaling Jaya: Prasarna Malaysia BHD has initiated a long -term workforce development initiative, which aims to train 1,000 Malaysians in five years in rail and smart mobility subjects as part of its strong commitment for the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) policy 2030.
Group CEO Mohammad Azharuddin Mat Sah said that the initiative called Prasar TVET program is supported through a strategic partnership with Hitachi rail, at the forefront of public transport talent development in the country.
“The new program is set to roll out in the fourth quarter of 2025, which is likely to be by November, which will focus on three main areas of electric bus operations, stock maintenance and three main areas of cyber security.
“Participants will receive the national level recognized Malaysian Skill Certificate (Sijil Kem Vahirin Malaysia or SKM), which are preparing them for real world roles in the rapid technical scenario of urban dynamics.
He said, “We are not only building the rail system, we are building people. The initiative will equip 1,000 persons with the skill of leading Malaysia’s smart transport transformation over the next five years,” he asked reporters in a memorandum to sign a ceremony between Prasana and Hitachi Rail yesterday.
He commented that the TVT program will be between 9 and 12 months, the principle-based learning, technical training, and the performance of the field will combine the performance of the field at the operation and maintenance sites.
“Participants will undergo training on broad hands, including site tour for operational control centers and depots, ensuring that they achieve significant insights into real -time dynamics of running urban railway systems.
“This is not a small, introductory course, it is a complete commitment to develop skilled professionals,” he said.
He said that the program would nominate an average of 200 participants per year, which will conclude in a total of 1,000 trainees by 2030.
“These individuals will be selected from a mixture of school liver, commercial students, diploma holders and university graduates, which ensure inclusion in educational background.
“This is our talent pipeline. By nourishing them quickly, we identify the capacity and bring them to the ecosystem, something that is necessary given our scale, including five MRT lines, 1,000 buses and more than 13,000 employees across the country,” he explained.
Additionally, he stated that Pratyun is also running a parallel protect program, including two streams, a marketing-centered route and the introduction TVET program.
“The latter includes immersive field-based learning experiences designed to familiarize youth talent with operating demands of the rail industry.
“Currently, 57 participants are nominated in two proteases streams, with around 29 persons per cohort.
“These placements include structured learning with focus on personal and professional development.
“This partnership with the Hitachi rail is more than a corporate alliance, it is a shared vision for creating local expertise, reducing talent gaps and uplifting the reputation of technical career in Malaysia.”
