Sabah’s government is monitoring how the global conflict affects supply chains and consumer prices, with a detailed report being prepared for cabinet-level action.
Kinabalu City: The Sabah Government is actively monitoring the impact of global conflicts on goods supply chains and their impact on consumers.
This work is being done through the State Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport.
Deputy Chief Minister III Yvonne Benedick said she has requested relevant agencies to prepare a more detailed report on how the conflicts are affecting the state.
Ivon, who also holds the ministerial title of the ministry, said the report is important to provide a clear picture of the impact on Sabah and end users.
With this, the matter can be raised at the cabinet level or discussed at a higher forum.
“I have asked the agencies concerned to prepare a report on interventions or follow-up actions that the government can implement,” he said in a statement.
The issue of global supply chain was discussed after the ministry’s cabinet meeting last Wednesday.
State and federal government agencies also participated in the meeting.
Ivon said the conflicts have caused oil prices to rise, resulting in increased logistics costs for both sea and air transport.
This disruption is significantly impacting supply chains.
In addition, there may be delays in the arrival of goods in Sabah due to security concerns and disruptions on international trade routes.
These delays may also affect exports of some products from the state.
The Ministry will continue to monitor developments to ensure appropriate steps are taken.
These measures are aimed at minimizing the impact on consumers in Sabah.
