Qualampur: Property developer WZR Property SDN BHD, a subsidiary of WZR Group of Companies, has been calling the government for a top level of diplomatic intervention to help the Maldives, a subsidiary of the Maldives, for a long-time trade-to-government dispute.
The company had earlier initiated legal action against the Maldives government on an alleged contract violation.
The WZR Property said that the President of Maldives, Dr. The official visit by Mohammad Muizu in Malaysia gives Malaysian officials a time to address the case.
The group’s executive director Van Nadzir Van Mohammed highlighted that the ongoing disputes are affecting the operation of WZR and creating negative perceptions about foreign investment possibilities for Malaysian businesses.
Van Nadzir also revealed that the Malaysian government has been continuously helping to join the government-to-government level for years with the Maldives officials regarding the matter.
He said, “We are really grateful to our government’s unwavering support, and we hope that the upcoming high-level discussion will eventually solve the issue for a long time, allowing us to strengthen and increase the partnership between Malaysia, Maldives and their respective business communities.”
Despite the challenges, Van Nadzir expressed the continuous confidence of WZR in the possibilities of the Maldives, highlighting the country’s future capacity.
He said, “We are optimistic that these matters can be cordial and rapidly settled, which can help rebuild trust for prosperity between our two countries and open new opportunities,” he said.

On August 7, 2021, it was reported that the WZR Property had sued the alleged violation of the contract involving the construction of the Finance Ministry against the Maldives government in Mulumal.
