Israel identified two of the four dead hostages, whose coffins it received from Hamas through the Red Cross on Monday, and the cause of their deaths.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Tuesday, “IDF representatives informed the families of Guy Illuz, Bipin Joshi, and two additional deceased hostages, whose names have not yet been clarified by their families for publication, that their loved ones have been repatriated for burial.”
The IDF said its intelligence indicated that Eluz was abducted alive and injured by Hamas after fleeing the Nova music festival. The IDF said he later died due to lack of proper medical treatment. Illouz was 26 years old at the time of his death.

According to the IDF, Joshi was kidnapped from Kibbutz Alumim, where he was hiding in a bomb shelter. The IDF said that an assessment showed that Joshi was murdered in captivity during the first months of the war. He was 23 years old.
The IDF said that the final conclusion would be determined after the National Center of Forensic Medicine completes its investigation. The identities of the other two dead hostages have not yet been released.

Israeli hostages meet their families in emotional moment
“The families of the hostages and those returned include the families of Guy Illouz and Bipin Joshi, as well as two additional families whose loved ones were recently repatriated for proper burial,” the Hostages and Missing Families Forum said in a statement.
The forum said, “With grief and the understanding that their hearts will never be whole, the return of Guy and Bipin, may their memories be a blessing, along with two additional dead hostages, bring some measure of comfort to the families who have been living with uncertainty and doubt for more than two years. We will not rest until all 24 hostages are brought home.”

On Monday, the last 20 surviving hostages were released after more than two years in captivity. In addition to the surviving hostages, Hamas was to hand over the remains of 28 dead hostages by Monday, The Times of Israel reported, although the terrorist group said it would have trouble finding all the bodies.
The IDF said it would “continue to make every possible effort to return all hostages, as Hamas must fulfill its part of the agreement and make the necessary efforts to return all hostages to their families for proper burial.”
The bodies of the 24 hostages killed – who may have included US citizens Itay Chen and Omar Nutera – are still in Gaza.
