The RMT union has agreed a three-year pay deal for London Underground workers, which will end strike action with a 3.4% rise in the first year and RPI-linked increases.
London: The RMT trade union has won a three-year pay settlement for London Underground workers following September strike action.
The deal provides for a 3.4% pay increase in the first year, followed by increases linked to the retail price index over the next two years.
If inflation falls below a certain level, a guaranteed minimum increase will apply.
The union also won additional negotiations over “fatigue-friendly” shift patterns and staff travel arrangements.

Workers will receive a guaranteed £400 payment for work on Boxing Day, December 26.
The five-day strike in September paralyzed the Tube network, causing major inconvenience to millions of daily commuters.
The new agreement is expected to prevent further industrial action on the underground system.
Transport for London welcomed the RMT’s decision to accept the pay offer in a statement quoted by British media.
A TfL spokesperson said, “This multi-year offer is fair, affordable and provides our colleagues with certainty over many years of pay.”
The transport authority confirmed it was negotiating the same proposal with all unions.
TfL said there are no proposed changes to staff working hours as part of the agreement. – Reuters
