
Members of an Oregon College Softball Team were involved in a two -vehicle accident on Friday night, leaving a coach and a player.
The accident occurred after crossing the center line of a road of a driver and crashed into a bus carrying ten members of the UMPQUA Community College softball team.
The bus was operated by the team’s coach, 46 -year -old Jami Strenge. The coach was rushed to the hospital, where the police state was later declared dead. The slain athlete was 19 -year -old Kelly Jones, who was declared dead on the spot.
The Department of Ampakwa Community College Athletics wrote on X, “We are very sad to confirm that one of our students-athletes and one of our coaches lost his life in the accident.” “UCC hearts are breaking up with this news, and we ask the community to keep the families and all of them impressed in their thoughts and prayers.”
The driver of the truck was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. According to police, other residents of the bus suffered injuries described as “moderate and emergency medical services for serious injuries”.
Police reports that “impaired driving is considered a primary cause of accident.”
