CNN’s hosting Farid Zakaria said on CNN’s “outfront” on Friday that President Donald Trump had disturbed the trade war with China “badly”.
Zakaria said, “These are the highest bets, and the Trump administration has provoked it badly. The largest preventer for a Chinese invasion of Taiwan that you know, earthquake waves through the world economy, through the international political system, the largest preventive was no weapon.”
He continued, “Trump fired that gun without any plan, without any plan, without any plan. As far as I can tell that, the tariff on China was extended to 145% because he wanted to save the face. You know, he was retreating on all other tariffs.
Zakaria said, “Don’t forget that China is a dictatorship. Xi Jinping does not have to worry about public opinion in the same way that Donald Trump will have to worry about it.”
