Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky indicated in a post on X that Ukraine wants 30, 40 or 50-year security guarantees from the US, and President Donald Trump said the US would consider it.
Zelensky met Trump in Florida on Sunday as his country is locked in a deadly, long war against Russia, and the US administration aims to help broker peace.
In a Monday post on Twitter, the president of the embattled Eastern European nation indicated that Trump had “reaffirmed strong security guarantees” during their meeting.

Zelensky said, “He confirmed the details that have been developed so far by our negotiating teams regarding these security guarantees, and he confirmed that they will be voted on by the United States Congress. This is a very strong agreement.”
During a joint press conference with Zelensky on Sunday, Trump was asked if he had made any promises or assurances of security for Ukraine.
“I do. We want to work with Europe,” Trump replied, adding that Europe would “take over a big part of it” but the US would assist.

Zelensky hinted in another Monday post on X that Ukraine wants decades of security guarantees from the US
“In the documents, the guarantee is set for 15 years with the possibility of extension. I raised this issue with the President. I told him that our war has already been going on for more than a decade, and therefore, we would like to continue the guarantee for a longer period. We would like to consider the possibility of 30, 40 or 50 years. Then it will become a historic decision by President Trump. The President said that the US will consider it,” the foreign leader said in the post.
