A lawyer in California was killed with sanctions by the courts as it was revealed that he was not presenting cases that were not present – and which were fully created by Artificial Intelligence (AI) programs.
daily Journal Report:
So far, most of the lawyers are familiar with the boundaries of artificial intelligence – especially their tendency to produce fabricated quotes and incredible authority – but California Court of Appeal has now made it clear that they can take very real results “hallucinations”.
In Noolland v. Free of the Free, LP ,
And the court was clear for the reason why this opinion was publishing: “We … this opinion is published as a warning. Just said, no brief, petition, proposal, or any other paper filed in any court should be included in any other paper. Any Citation – provided by raised generic AI or any other source – that the lawyer responsible for submitting the petition is not personally read and verified. (Emphasis in origin).
