On Monday, during an appearance on FNC’s “Fox & Friends,” Trump border czar Tom Homan blasted efforts by New York state and New York City officials to thwart Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) efforts.
Despite the pledge of “zero cooperation”, Homan said there would be an influx of agents into New York City.
“So New York is saying dismantle ICE and zero cooperation,” said “Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade. “The Governor and the Mayor are teaming up to make sure that the progress you were making with Eric Adams will disappear. So what will your approach to New York be now that you will stay away?”
Homan responded, “No, I’m going to keep my promise to Governor Hochul. I met with Governor Hochul a few months ago. I explained to him how we deal with Minnesota, okay? If we can work with the sheriff and arrest a bad guy in prison security, that means less teams in the neighborhood, which causes a lot of panic, a lot of problems, right? I said, but if you Sign that law that I think you’re getting ready to sign, so it means I’m going to send more agents to New York, because now instead of one guy in jail arresting a bad guy, now we have to send a whole team into the neighborhood to find this guy who didn’t want to be found, because for officer security reasons, you know? Now we have to arrest this guy in his area, with no weapons on him.
“I told him, it’s safe for the community, it’s safe for the authorities, it’s safe for the aliens to have these collaborations with the prisons,” he added. “He signed the legislation anyway. So I made him a promise. You’re going to see more ICE agents in New York City than ever before, and it’s coming. I just reviewed an operational plan. I won’t tell you exactly when it’s going to happen, but it’s coming. I’m keeping my promise. We’re going to send more ICE agents to New York, because you’ve taken away the ability to make secure arrests in county jails.”
